This was originally scheduled as a investigation of another group. When they could not attend we grabbed several members of that group that were also PIE members and proceeded with the investigation under the PIE banner..
Many paranormal groups have been hear multiple times from across the country as evidenced by their entries in a guest book kept in the "Quarters". One of my favorite entries in the book was by an eight year old boy who says they had to leave early because his younger brother had seen a ghost. He was going to return when he was older with cooler people.
While this site has attracted a lot of attention from paranormal groups, do not expect too much. It proved a difficult investigation due to flood lights in the courtyards, highway, live stock and neighborhood noise.
The grounds contain the oldest continuous running Catholic Chapel in Texas.
During the investigation, I caught some teenage boys jumping the fort wall at a low point and chased them off.
They have renovated the Officer's Quarters
where you can spend the night and have full access to the Fort. This experience was like
the way you would feel if they would let you spend the night at
the Alamo with full access.
We learned a lot about Texas History. The first Texas Declaration of Independence
was signed here, and the massacre of 342 soldiers changed the entire course of
Texas History. If no other reason to come here, you will feel a new respect
for Texas History and appreciate how these brave soldiers died so Texas could be
free of the tyranny of Mexico.
