Pearson Electra
Pocket Cruiser
MORC (Midget Ocean Racing Class)
Designer Carl Alberg

New Improved Message Board

The Electra was designed for the MORC ( Midget Offshore Racing Class ) by Carl Alberg. She is 22' 6" with a full keel and a doghouse cabin.

Pearson built the Electra and upon discovering what a fast hull it was they built a day sailer version of the same hull know as the Ensign. For the Ensign, they used the same hull as the Electra, reduced the cabin to a cuddy thus enlarging the size of the cockpit enabling it to carry a larger better balanced crew. The rigging was changed from Masthead (Electra) to Fractional (Ensign) to reduce head stay sag and permit the Ensign to point a little better.

Not knowing the strength and limitations of fiberglass, at that time, they built the Electra very heavy and almost bullet proof. The boat sails very responsive and at times seems more like a large dingy.

Since putting up this website I have assisted many people to save and restore this boat. See the current Fleet listing of the existing boats. These boats can be found (depending on condition) from free to $8,000.
